ALBANY, N.Y.听鈥撎鼵ynthia Nixon, the听鈥�Sex and the City鈥� star and education activist, has made it official:听She intends to challenge听New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a Democratic primary this fall.听听
Nixon launched her campaign with听, ending months of speculation about whether she would jump into the race.
The video highlights her New York roots, showing her riding the subway and speaking at various rallies 鈥斕齱hile noting she grew up in a fifth-floor walk-up apartment in New York City.
Her entrance in the race ensures Cuomo will face an intraparty challenge from his left as Nixon, 51, attempts to woo liberal听leaders听who have long been wary of the governor.
She will face an uphill climb, however: Cuomo has more than $30 million in his campaign account and听听Monday showed he remains the clear front-runner.
