ECB study shows 38 percent increase in euro money market turnover between 2022 and 2024

The European Central Bank (ECB) has published its Euro Money Market Study 2024, revealing that daily turnover in the euro money market surged by 38% over a two-year period. From €1.3 trillion at the end of 2022, daily activity rose to €1.8 trillion by the end of 2024.

ECHA raises environmental concerns over certain aromatic brominated flame retardants

The European Chemicals Agency’s (ECHA) investigation found that use of non-polymeric aromatic brominated flame-retardant additives pollutes the environment due to their persistence, bioaccumulation and toxicity. These substances are released to the environment throughout the product lifecycle, with waste stage being of particular concern.

Over 500,000 children’s reading skills impaired by transport noise in Europe

More than one out of five Europeans are exposed to harmful long-term noise from road, rail and air transport. Published today, European Environment Agency’s (EEA) briefing shows that this noise exposure leads to over half a million children suffering from impaired reading ability and almost 60,000 having behavioural difficulties in Europe.
